- named after Montgomery's iconic hotel which hosted the band's early days, more than 7 years ago.  Now the Band plays every Wednesday night at the Horse and Jockey, Churchstoke (tel: 01588 620060 bar food available) to a lively, friendly, loyal audience.  Fourteen musicians, playing a wide range of music with freewheeling improvisation to immaculate recreations of Big Band classics by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Woody Herman and Glen Miller, to name just a few. Often concluding the gig with their signature tune which is Charles Mingus's soulful 'Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting'!

An evening with the Dragon Big Band is great fun combined with great music.

Alongside the Horse and Jokey residency the Band has played at other venues for special events including Montgomery Town Hall, Gregynog Hall, Theatre Severn, Wightman Theatre Shrewsbury, Glansevern Hall and private functions in Village Halls and Community Centres.  It is always pleasure to be invited to play at these unique occasions.
