The Prized Pig

Matt and Bec run ‘The Prized Pig’ from their home in Abermule, which they set up at the end of 2021. Matt has butchered for over 10 years and wanted to use his knowledge and passion for local and high quality produce, to put a more ethical stamp on the local butchery trade.

 

They use local, outdoor reared, heritage breed livestock, with welfare, quality and traceability being top priorities. The majority of their produce is sourced from the family farm, less than a mile from their premises in Abermule . Strong relationships with suppliers are important and enables a top quality end product.

 

Products cover all aspects of butchery; from prime roasting joints, steaks, hand pressed burgers and homemade sausages.

 

Traditional bacon curing methods using natural sea salt and a handful of other natural ingredients result in a delicious product, which is free from any synthetic preservatives or nitrates.

 

Packaging is also plastic free and compostable wherever possible, because reducing waste is also important at The Prized Pig. 

 

They will be at Montgomery Market every Thursday with an order book for those who would like to place regular orders and an array of fantastic produce for those who would just like an occasional purchase.
